Mk4 R32 Inspection
Aaron had recently purchased this MK4 R32 with a VF Supercharger kit. The car was in great shape and was already tastefully modified, however he wanted to ensure he was starting with a good baseline before moving the car any further, so he brought the R32 to XLR8 for a Post Purchase Inspection.
Overall, the car had some small things like spark plugs that needed replacement, but it was a great platform to work with. It was time to move onto modifications.
Adding Mods, Losing Weight
We started with shaving some weight off the chassis with Seibon’s Carbon Fiber Hood and Hatch, along with a rear seat delete. Seibon’s hood and latch lined up great, but some cutting and filing were required to add all of the OEM pieces back. With that, we also removed the rear wiper with APR’s wiper delete. This made the new hatch look much cleaner as well as keeping weight to a minimum. HID headlights were added to keep everything bright at night, and a shift kit with stainless clutch line and a bleeder block were installed to keep shifts tight.
From there, we turned our attention to the engine bay. Siemens 630cc injectors were installed with a United Motorsports R32 custom tune and new spark plugs to up the power a tad. We modified a CTS Short Runner Intake to fit vacuum ports and also had the manifold powdercoated to match the rest of the car. Next, we took care of some failing strut mounts by replacing them with new PowerFlex bushings. Lastly, a Haldex controller and P3 gauge were the final touches to getting this R32 tidied up for Aaron. As you can see, he found himself a great candidate with a big brake kit pulled from a Porsche, coilovers, and lightweight wheels. Check out our gallery below.
