It’s Time to Upgrade Your Engine

If you drive a classic high-performance automobile, we are jealous here at Excelerate Performance. Your classic machine will eventually get to a point where you will need to replace the engine. When it’s time to do so, why not let us upgrade it with the new engine designed to generate the performance your vehicle deserves. After all, if it looks mean, it should be mean.

Constant Overheating

One sign that your engine needs to be replaced is if it overheats constantly. Even if you’ve had the cooling system rebuilt, an engine that overheats all the time likely has a cracked engine block. This is something that can be repaired but it’s usually better to replace the engine at this point because it is worn down completely. Here are other signs that this is the case.

Excessive Exhaust

Excessive exhaust flowing out of the tailpipe can indicate that the engine has a serious fluid hemorrhage. This, naturally, is caused by a serious breach and the engine. The color of the exhaust will tell you what fluid is leaking severely. If the exhaust is black, it’s fuel. Blue or gray exhaust is an indication that you have a serious oil leak. White exhaust points to engine coolant.

Loud Engine Knocks

Your high-performance classic beauty should not have a knocking engine. If it does, the rods and rod bearings are on their way out. Unfortunately, when the bearings wear down, the pistons bang against the cylinder walls. Naturally, this can seriously damage the cylinder block. In fact, it can even crack it. If a rod brakes in the process, you will no longer have a functioning engine.

Serious Power Loss

High-performance automobiles with high mileage will eventually begin to lose power no matter how much you have the engine serviced and repaired. This is because the engine has reached the end of its lifespan and it needs to be replaced. As with any piece of machinery, your high-performance automobile’s engine only has so many miles on it.

Silver or Gray Motor Oil

Finally, if your motor oil has turned silver or gray, there are metal shavings in the oil. This is definitely a time to install a new and upgraded high-performance engine into your automobile because the current engine is disintegrating. Don’t drive your vehicle if there are metal shavings in the oil. Doing so will only damage the engine further.
