This failure can leave you dead in the water with a hefty repair bill. The high pressure fuel pump is driven off a lobe on the camshaft to generate high pressure fuel to the fuel rail. #teamexcelerate always recommends checking the cam follower every 20k miles, especially if you are unsure of previous owner repair records or have never had it checked as an original owner. These images portray the cam follower being worn completely through its material.
